Welcome to Book One. A family saga set during the 1st
century AD.
The Latin history of events paints the Britons as
uncivilized barbarians. Both sexes fought coated in little but blue dye. The
annuals dismiss the Druid hierarchy that lasted for a thousand years.
The conquest did not happen in a month or a year, fifty years later the legions
reached Orkney. Let no one pretend Britons are ever an easy prey.
These peoples lived closer to nature; slavery was part and parcel of life.
Entertainments were violent and explicit. Romans killed without compunction; in
Brittonic ceremonial ritual murder was deemed essential to appease their Gods.
Mistress Deva is never a saint. Her country is being overrun. She will use
beauty and skill to assimilate in this new world order.
City of the Legions is a salacious warts and all saga of victor and vanquished
in the European theatre of experience.
I use The Roman camp of Castra Deva as a linchpin for a story of ambition,
desire, and determination.
The backdrop is Imperial expansion. We shall dine with Emperors, witness
Boudicca's fury and gain a taste of life in Rome.
In Book Two we witness the opening of the Coliseum, bet on
a race in the Circus Maximus.
The theme remains the lives of the family Aurelius and their assimilation with
Deva Celts.
Day one finds the Patrician family Aurelius suffering grievous times. We follow
a migratory journey to the Eastern Empire and then turn West to follow the Roman
Invasion of Britain.
I paint it as it was not is.
Suffering is good for the soul the Gods demand it.
After the shock, if you enjoy the read, try the sequel and
tell others.
There is no silver spoon sponsor providing publicity. Another word works
wonders.
`Those who are about to die salute you.

Octavian joins the famous governor Agricola in those final years of latin
conquest while Marcus receives an offer he cannot refuse after Pompeii lies
buried under a sea of ash.
This sequel is another warts and all story of assimilation and ambition as my
Brittonic brethren strive for success.
No one invented saints in the first century Ad. There is a hint of something
shocking when Aurelia bends the rules, though a little suffering is good for the
soul the old Gods decree it.
I paint as it was not is. If you enjoy this taste of ancient reality, spread the
word and be patient.
The City of the legions: the new conquerors (1050-1100) should become available
during 2012.

as American C47s fly in to move an entire Indian Division to stem a Japanese
attack.
Eight nurses, lost during the debacle, fly out with the troops.
Picture Emma the American Puritan from New England, Georgina the English
Aristocrat and their British Empire colleagues that includes two Eurasians.
There is a black master sergeant from Harlem and a Jewish pilot from Yonkers to
add to the mix.
Each experiences life in its deadly facets. We learn their histories, share
their dreams, and witness attitudes change by the day...
